ARTEMIS Label for Center of Innovation Excellence

In its meeting of October 25th the ARTEMIS-IA Steering Board decided to issue an ARTEMIS label for those Centers of Innovation Excellence that fulfill a set of criteria that are important for ARTEMIS.

What is it?

For ARTEMIS, a Centre of Innovation Excellence (CoIE) is a group of multi-country, multi-organization, interconnected R&D actors and businesses, that by efficient planning, acting and cooperation, achieve a significant advantage in innovation success in a specific market. CoIE’s exist mainly to create new, self-sustaining businesses, which in turn drive employment, social responsiveness, etc. To be successful, CoIE’s must comprise a range of actors in a suitable environment and nurture a cooperation culture to work across boundaries by various forms of partnerships. The ARTEMIS Label is a quality mark from the ARTEMIS Industry Association in recognition of the achievements of the COIE in the field of innovation in embedded systems

Labeled CoIE's

ARTEMIS is proud to have already 2 labeled CoIE's; EICOSE and ProcessIT.EU

EICOSE (European Institute for Complex Safety Critical Systems Engineering) is a virtual institute that leverages three recognized national initiatives onto a European dimension, namely the two French pôle de compétitivités
Aerospace Valley (www.aerospace-valley.com), System@tic Paris-Region (www.systematic-paris-region.org) and the German competence cluster SafeTRANS (www.safetrans-de.org). EICOSE has been awarded the title of ARTEMIS Innovation Cluster on Transportation, being the first institute to which this title was bestowed. As such, EICOSEs responsibility is to help shape that part of the ARTEMIS Strategic Research Agenda concerning processes and methods for complex safety critical systems in the transportation domain (Automotive, Aeronautics, Railways).
In the Steering Board meeting of March 1st 2011, it was decided to extend the COIE label to EICOSE until 2014.

How can we apply for a Label?
Centers can apply for the label by sending a document describing the CoIE and its activities to the ARTEMIS-IA Office. This document should describe how the CoIE fulfills the criteria listed in the CoIE label criteria document. This document can be downloaded from this webpage.

Assessment of the CoIE and decision procedure
A committee consisting of two Steering Board members and two members of the ARTEMIS-IA Office will check the application documents. This committee prepares an advice to the Steering Board whether indeed the candidate CoIE should be awarded with the label. The decision by the Steering Board is put on the agenda of the next Steering Board meeting. Click here to download the template for the assessment of CoIE applications for the ARTEMIS CoIE Label

The label will be given for three years; then a reassessment check will be done by ARTEMIS-IA whether the label will be continued or not. Criteria for this have been developed and are described in the document.
