Project Posters

For the Co-summit 2011 in Helsinki, Finland, the ARTEMIS-IA Office provides you with a structured template for your project posters and an example. Each poster in the template shows you which input has to be provided. This makes it easier for you as a Project Leader to send us the necessary input for your project posters. But more important, a structured poster will help visitors (e.g. Public Authorities) to find the necessary information faster, as the posters in all booths have the same set up.

The ARTEMIS-JU projects of Call 2008 and Call 2009 are invited to provide us with updates of posters as presented at the 2010 Co-summit event in Ghent. Call 2010 projects are invited to deliver a draft text and an image proposal for the poster to be designed.

Project Posters Guidelines

1. See it from the point of view of your target audience!

Think hard about your message and what you want your message/your poster to achieve.

- Executive summary [30 words]
- Relevance Call [45 words]
- Market innovation [100 words]
- Technical innovation [120 words]

2. Use an attractive design to add value to a clear message

Your poster should have a balanced layout between text and images. Use large, strong images that will attract people to your poster (illustrations, images, photos, diagrams, graphs, screenshots, …) Write your text using short, vigorous formulation. Bullet points may be better than long sentences, but don’t leave out essential verbs or essential prepositions (e.g. "to", "during" and "for")! Omit detail – you can always provide this verbally.

3. Lay out your poster according to the ARTEMIS corporate identity

The provided Word-templates are intended to make it easier for you to submit your poster. Please adhere to the styles and frames defined in the template and shown in the design guidelines documents!

4. Specifications of digital images/scans (pictures, logos etc.)

As your poster design in A4 format has to be enlarged to A0 format (841mm x 1189mm), in other words by 4 times, please submit digital images as large as possible:

> Preferably life-size (= the size you want the image to have in the A0 format). For this size the resolution should preferably be 300 or 150 dpi.

> If you send us smaller images, the resolution should be at least 300 dpi.

> The minimum requirements can best be illustrated by the following:

> A picture of 100mm x 100mm, at a resolution of 300 dpi, can be enlarged to 400mm x 400mm without too much loss of quality.

> Images taken from the Internet are usually unsuitable, as they're too small and have too low a resolution for a good quality of the printed version.

> The preferred image formats are: .eps, .ai or .jpg

> Submit separate files for all images and underlying data.

> Image files can be sent in the following formats: (preferable .eps, .ai or .jpg (big size). Other options are .png, or .tiff. Please take account of the requirements stated in above mentioned point 4.

If it is not possible to submit your design (text including images) as a Word file (made with or without the provided templates), you can also send your text and images in separate files. The ARTEMIS-IA  Office will then take care of the lay-out and send the edited version to you for approval.

> We will put the content you send to us in the final layout and you will receive a PDF file for a last review. When the poster is OK it will be printed and brought to Helsinki by the ARTEMIS-IA Office.
